Alvarado High School’s theater scholars continued a dominant run at the Texas Thespians State Festival prior to the Thanksgiving Break.

For the third straight year Thespian Troupe 4243 improved on the school’s best-ever finish from the year before. AHS had 14 scholars qualify in 11 events for the International Thespian Festival next summer at Indiana University.

All of AHS’ entrees garnered Excellent or Superior ratings and qualified more scholars for the International contest than any other school in Johnson County or their One Act Play Area.

In addition, Anna Castle was named to the Improv All-Stars, and even though it was only for recognition and bragging rights, Cooper Pinkerton tied for first place with the fastest time in the knot tying challenge component of Tech Relay in an event against over 70 other schools.
There may be more qualifiers to come for AHS as there is a virtual round of competition, which involves video submissions that can occur during the months of December and January.

Those national qualifiers are:
Boatright - Costume Design (received a perfect score)
Boehm - Solo Musical
Browning and White - Two Person Scene
Castle - Contrasting Monologue
Delago and Harris - Two Person Scene
Jackson - Contrasting Monologue
King - Solo Musical
Payne - Contrasting Monologue
Smith and Strickland - Two Person Scene
Torian - Stage Management
Willimann - Prop Construction
