Military-Connected Families

Alvarado ISD welcomes military students and families who have been transferred to a local military installation.  A military-connected student is a dependent whose parent or guardian is a current or former member of the U.S. military, Texas National Guard, or reserve forces, or a dependent of a member who was killed in the line of duty.

Purple Star School Program

Our district is committed to supporting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families. The Purple Star Program is a state recognition awarded to schools that demonstrate a strong dedication to ensuring military children transition smoothly and feel supported academically, socially, and emotionally.

Although we have not yet received the Purple Star designation, our district is actively working toward this goal. We are building systems, resources, and programs to:

  • Welcome and support new military-connected students and families.

  • Provide resources for academic success and social-emotional well-being.

  • Foster a school culture of understanding, respect, and appreciation for the sacrifices of our military families.

Our desire is to become a Purple Star District so that every military-connected student who walks through our doors feels seen, valued, and supported. We believe this recognition will reflect the heart of our mission: to serve all students with excellence, care, and commitment.
