Back to School Bash helps over 500 students

Over 500 pre-packaged boxes filled with school supplies were handed out at Alvarado ISD’s annual Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 3.

Most of the bags of supplies went to families with students entering pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, but the number of secondary supply kits that were disbursed was higher than normal.

“This was the best attended back to school event AISD has had, including community services as vendors,” said Dr. Lori Nunez, Chief Special Programs Officer. “Our annual event continues to grow each year. We could not host such an event without the donations of backpacks and school supplies by our local businesses and churches. This is truly a community event.”

Families were also able to get vision screenings, vaccinations, haircuts, and visit with the transportation department about buses and nutrition about meal plans.

“It was exciting to see students and families already exciting and planning for another school year,” Dr. Nunez said.
