Alvarado High School’s choir has four members who have advanced to the final round of All-State choir auditions.
Tenor Patrick Eaves and bass Dylan Garrett both nailed down first chair in their respective sections, while alto Avery Hutson and tenor Aaron Wardlaw both earned second chair.
With their performance, they earned a trip to UT-Arlington for the All-State Choir finals on Jan. 13.
“All these kids are great singers, excellent musicians, and great students,” choir director Edward Smith said. “We are extremely proud to have them in our program. They have worked diligently on their own time, and they have taken to heart the suggestions from their directors.”
Wardlaw earned all-state honors last year and the choir has had at least one all-state member for each of the last 11 years.
This year marked just the second time the region has sponsored a 9/10 Honor Choir for deserving freshmen and sophomores. Joseph Crowe is the first AHS students to receive a place in the 9/10 Honor Choir.
