Alvarado Junior High’s band had 12 of its members earn all-region honors during tryouts before Thanksgiving.
The students were chosen through a rigorous audition process that consisted of preparing scales and two musical selections. They competed against schools from across the area and because of their talents; a panel of judges selected them to be members of the prestigious all-region band.
“The students worked extremely hard to not only learn the challenging music but to perform it at a high level,” director Ross Langdon said. “I’m very proud of not only our student leaders in the band, but our band staff for preparing our students to reach their goals.”
Students recognized were Megan Cole (clarinet), Katelynn Luper (clarinet), Jackson Pate (french horn), Ryan Murray (tenor saxophone), Steven Meyer (euphonium), Chinia Hafford-Robinson (trombone), Josiah Ponce (percussion), Freddy DeLeon (tuba), Jada Selman (trumpet), Allison Garner (alto saxophone), Kyler Goulding (percussion) and Keith Scullin (trumpet).
The students will participate in a clinic on Friday in Kennedale with a concert closing the day beginning at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Kennedale High School.
