Without a single senior the Lady Indian volleyball team struggled to keep pace with what proved to be one of the toughest district in the state, regardless of classification.
Coach Jill Barkey is hoping the team’s two district wins will serve as a spring board to more success next fall when the entire roster returns – including two all-district players and two others who garnered honorable mention honors.
Junior Malanie Potter earned first team honors with a team-high 79 kills, 22 blocks and four aces during district play. Sophomore Miranda Roberts was a second team selection after tallying 45 kills, and a team high 19 aces and 116 assists during district.
Juniors Dayla Fuller and Alexys Holt were honorable mention selections.
Earning Academic All-District honors were Potter, Roberts, Brittne Thomas, Fuller, Holt and Alysia Torres.
“I am so excited to see what next year holds for us,” Barkey said. “With an entire team returning, along with a new district, great things will be happening.”
