Although the Winter Olympics may have ended two weeks ago, the Measurement Olympics were still in full swing at Alvarado ISD elementary schools last week.
Second grade math classes at Elementary North and Lillian Elementary adapted Olympic sports for the classroom and used them to teach measurement.
Students at AEN participated in a standing ski jump, snowball throw, bobsled, hockey and curling. At LES, students competed in the discus and javelin toss.
Lessons included measuring distances from certain points or the how close the students were to a point in the hallway.
