Complaint
The Alvarado ISD Police Department is committed to thoroughly investigating all complaints regarding the behavior or actions of its employees. This includes complaints related to personal conduct as well as official duties. The Department takes complaints seriously from individuals who believe they have been subject to racial profiling, such as unwarranted stops, searches, tickets, or arrests. No one will face discouragement, intimidation, coercion, or discrimination for filing such a complaint.
All complaints against Alvarado ISD Police Department personnel will be handled objectively, efficiently, and thoroughly.
Filing a Complaint:
To file a complaint against a police officer, a written complaint must be submitted and signed by the individual making the complaint. If the complainant is under 18, their parent or guardian must sign it.
Anyone wishing to file a complaint against police personnel can obtain an official complaint form. To file an official complaint, visit the Alvarado ISD Police Department or download the form online (below). Complete the form and have it notarized. Then, submit it to the Police Department between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
When completing the complaint form, please include the following key information: your name, address, and phone number; the name of the employee against whom the complaint is made; the date, time, and location of the incident; and the names of any witnesses. Once completed, the complaint form will be forwarded to the Chief of Police.
Investigation Process:
Upon receiving a complaint, the Chief of Police reviews it and assigns an investigator to conduct a thorough investigation. After completing the investigation, the investigator provides their recommendation to the Chief of Police, who then assesses the recommendation and makes a final determination regarding the complaint.
Final Disposition:
Once the investigation is concluded, the individual who filed the complaint will receive a notification of the outcome.
