Health Services

AISD's Health Service Department will implement the following procedure for administering medications on campus:

All prescriptive medications will REQUIRE a physician's signature (ADHD/ADD, narcotic pain medication, asthma inhalers, epi-pens, etc)

- A maximum of a 30 day supply of ADHD/ADD medication will be stored in the school nurse's office.

Only the following over-the-counter medications will be administered with parental consent:

  • Ibuprofen
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
  • Naproxen (Aleve)
  • Benadryl
  • Pepto Bismol
  • Tums
  • Cough Drops

All over-the-counter medications will only be administered per directions on the bottle with regards to dosing and age requirements.

All other over-the-counter medications will require a physician's signature.

Mission Statement
The primary purpose of the school health program is the optimal maintenance, promotion, protection, and improvement of student, staff, and community health. The school health personnel work in collaboration with students, parents, educators, staff members, and other community resources to assist the student in developing competence to cope confidently with the complexities of life. The program is designed to assure a safe, healthy environment that is conducive to learning and to provide professional care for those who become ill or injured while at school.
