Superintendent
Dr. Kenneth Estes grew up in Whitney, Texas. He attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993, a Master of Education Degree in 1999, and an Educational Doctorate in 2009. He married Dr. Laura Estes in 1993. The couple have two children: Ashlee and Aaron. Teaching and coaching his first year at Grand Saline ISD, Dr. Estes has been a part of the Alvarado ISD team since the fall of 1994. Dr. Estes has served as a teacher, coach, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, and now Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Estes currently serves our community on the Alvarado Santa’s Helpers Board of Directors and the Johnson County Economic Development Commission. He was President of the Alvarado Lion's Club from 2015-2016 and a former board member for the Alvarado Chamber of Commerce. He is a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Alvarado.
As a family, we “Bleed Purple”. Ashlee, a 2013 honor graduate of Alvarado High School, graduated from Tarleton State University in 2016 (BS) and 2020 (MEd) and currently serves as Assistant Principal of Alvarado Elementary North. She is married to Mr. Coleman Reed. Aaron, a 2015 honor graduate of Alvarado High School, graduated from the Tarleton State University Presidential Honors Program in 2018 (BA) and 2021 (MEd). He is married to Mrs. Caitlin Estes, a 2017 (BS) and 2021 (MEd) Tarleton State University graduate. Aaron and Caitlin currently reside and teach in Belton, Texas.
Dr. Laura Estes earned a BFA from Baylor in 1993, an MEd from Tarleton State University in 1999, and a Doctorate of Education in 2009 also from Tarleton. Laura served as a teacher, principal, and director in Alvarado for 19 years prior to taking the position with Tarleton. She currently serves as an associate professor.
