Become a Driver
As a school bus driver, you will play an integral role in the safe and enjoyable transport of our district’s students. Driving a school bus is rewarding, and it gives one the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children each day. School bus drivers only have to work 180 days per year, so they are able to be home with their own children on school holidays and during the summer.

Requirements
To become a school bus driver in the state of Texas you must:

Obtain a Texas Commercial Driver’s License –Class B with passenger and school bus endorsements

Pass a DOT physical annually and pre-employment drug testing

Pass annual State license checks and criminal history check

Maintain a good driving record as set forth by the Texas Department of Public Safety

Participate and pass a 20 hour Texas School Bus Driver Certification Class

Texas School Bus Driver recertification 8 hour course every 3 years
