Over 750 pre-packaged boxes filled with school supplies were handed out at Alvarado ISD’s annual Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 1 at Alvarado Junior High.
Families were also able to visit over 20 community vendors which included local churches, area dentists, health and wellness advocates, Tarrant County Food Bank, the Alvarado Public Library, the Alvarado Lions Club and many more.
Before picking up school supplies, backpacks and going through the vendor area, parents had the opportunity to visit with the school district’s nurses, technology department, transportation department about buses and child nutrition about free and reduced meal plans.
“This event gets bigger and better every year,” said Dr. Lori Nunez, Chief Special Programs Officer. “We could not host such an event without the donations of backpacks and school supplies by our local businesses and churches. This is truly a community event.”
