For the 16th year in a row and 23rd of the last 24 years AHS will be represented on either the All-State Choir or All-State Band.
In a region that includes many of the state’s top 4A bands, Alvarado dominated the Texas Small School Bands All-State Band with six earning the state’s highest honors. Those making the band were Elizabeth Clampitt, flute; Kayla Sepeda, clarinet; Megan Cole, clarinet; Allison Garner, saxophone; Keith Scullin, trumpet; and Jackson Pate, french horn.
“This is the highest individual honor a band member can receive,” Dietz said. “Most schools hope to have one, to have six in a single year is quite amazing. We have a special group of kids here in Alvarado and they continue to do amazing things.”
For several band members, it was their second or third time earning all-state honors as Pate was named to the band for a third time while it was the second time for Clampitt, Cole, Sepeda and Garner.
Alvarado’s six all-state band members was more than any other school in the region. Two other bands had four and one other had three.
“Each one of these scholars is a great representation of Alvarado High School and I’m excited to see them continue to represent our school and community at the state level,” Dietz said.
