Alvarado High School's Golden Warrior Band placed 18th at its first trip to the UIL State Marching Band Championships in San Antonio.
The appearance at the state competition was the first in the school's history for the Golden Warrior Band.
The Golden Warrior Band reached the state competition by placing fourth at Area in Pflugerville on Oct. 30. In that competition, the band entered the Finals in eighth place and needing to be in the top six.
